Toronto,
Ohio
Toronto is located in the northern part of Jefferson County, on the Ohio River. The area was settled in the 19th century, and was originally known as Newburg’s Landing; with the coming of the railroad, the name was changed to Sloan’s Station. In 1881 the town was incorporated under its present name. Over the years, Toronto has been home to many industries, including steel and titanium mills, and china manufacturers. The city has a Mayor/City Council form of government. The people of Toronto feel great pride in their charming community and maintain historical and architectural sites for the benefit of the city’s residents and tourists.
